Attached to the arm of the Roller Texture Player is a needle which scrapes the wall. A contact microphone attached to the needle picks up the texture of the wall. The signal from the microphone modulates the volume of a sine wave (pure tone) which is played out the headphones. Simply, the piece plays the wall.
