Brownian Teapot
Found this version of the Utah Teapot by Jon Macey while researching for my Digital Imaging class – not entirely sure how this is made, but I think it has something to do with Brownian Motion. In any event, really love how blobby and imperfect it is compared with most 3d models.
3d Model Or Nebula
More interpolated photographs to 3d models, here a close-up of the wireframe model which bears a striking resemblance to a nebula.
Interpolated Photographs, Uncleared
200 unrelated photographs, interpolated and converted to a 3d model using PhotoScan (123D Catch is cool, but has limits on the number of photographs you can upload for a single project).
Progressive Surface Broach
A 3d model of progressive surface broach (but don’t really know what that means), via Wikipedia user Wizard191.
Vibration Interface, 3d Model
(Hopefully) final revision before laser-cutting, imported from Illustrator into Rhino for some unecessary 3d modeling – showing the back side with Arduino USB/power jacks.
150 Penguins Falling Upon Icicles
A rendering of 150 penguins falling upon icicles, from a paper by Alec Rivers and Doug James on what they call Fast Lattice Shape Matching.
Thundercats stills
Found these stills from the “Thundercats” series while looking for something completely unrelated. The above image is Lion-O dropping a boulder (that I would love to see made into a very accurate 3d model).
And this is Panthro getting caught in the Field of Daggers – a rocky area where sharp, jagged pieces leap up at the slightest movment. I couldn’t find any other images of it but I’m somehow drawn to its strange, booby-trapped landscape that is somehow very videogame-like.
